Peoples’ Friendship University (PFU) was founded on 5th February, 1960 by the USSR Government. Far Eastern Federal University is a federal institution of higher education that teaches MBBS to students from both Russia and abroad. It is accredited and funded by the Russian Ministry of Education. FEFU is the oldest, largest, and highest-ranking university in eastern Russia which was established in 1899 during the Russian Empire era, by special order of Tsar Nicholas II. As per the ratings of the Russian Ministry of Education, FEFU is one of the top five Russian MBBS universities and has been listed as number two in a recent publication of the top national universities rankings. 

It is the only university of eastern Russia that is accredited as a scientific university by the Russian Ministry of Industry, Science, and Technology. The university earned this accreditation for its scientific achievements because according to the Science Citation Index, FEFU faculty members contribute 78% publications of all Russian Far East universities and colleges in worldwide peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The university is also acting as a national leader in developing relations with Pacific Rim countries, and a major bridge between Russian education and worldwide university society. The university is having 40+ branches which include Russia, the United States, Japan, China, and South Korea. It has developed more than 80 partnership projects, including 64 academic exchange programs, with universities in the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Thailand, India, and Vietnam both for MBBS and non-MBBS courses.

School of Medicine is the medical faculty of the Far Eastern Federal University.

Founded in 2021, it succeeds the School of Biomedicine in medical training in the Far Eastern Federal University. Medical instruction in FEFU began in 2013., and English-medium instruction began in 2016. Aside from Russian-medium programs, FEFU offer an English-medium program “General Medicine”. Currently, we teach around 500 students on this program. Far Eastern is a public school, that means we are funded and directed by the Russian Government and follow Russian state educational standards.

Belgorod State Medical University comes in the ranking of 30 best national universities in 2012, following a study of 103 Russian state universities and 500 branches. All the major indicators of another stage of the National Research University Program were reached by the end of 2013 through which the university proved its national research university status and effectiveness. Belgorod State University consists several campuses in which central campus include 8 academic buildings, a research library, a publishing house, a museum of Belgorod State University history, a university newspaper editorial office, a Career Counseling Center, Youth Cultural Center, a dormitory, an apartment block for university faculty, St. Gabriel’s University Church and an administrative building. Tyumen State Medical University was founded in 1963. Since then, the university has been trained over 25 thousand professionals. As per the order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Tyumen State Medical Academy was renamed into the Tyumen State Medical University on March 11, 2015. University traces 3 generations of mentors, doctors of science which grow within the walls of the university. From the 60s to the present, they trained 800 candidates of sciences and about 200 doctors of sciences which is not only for the Tyumen State Medical University but also for other universities in the country and practical health care. At present Tyumen Medical University occupies a worthy place among the medical universities of the country which is integrated into the international higher school and medical science. Higher professional education is implemented in 4 specialties which include General Medicine, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and one area of ​​nursing training (bachelor’s degree). In full-time and part-time forms, around 3500 students study every year. Under the program of additional professional education, about 6 thousand people are trained in 56 medical specialties during the academic year in the courses of advanced training and professional retraining, and internship is conducted in 29 specialties and in residency- in 35 specialties. St. Petersburg State Medical University is named after acad. I.P. Pavlova which originates from the opening of the Women’s Medical Institute (ZMI) on September 14 (26), 1897. “General Medicine” for English-speaking students:

The MD course includes 6 years of study and practical training, partly in English.

During the first 3 years of training considerable attention is paid to the study of the Russian language

One of the main goals of the University staff is to create new knowledge in medicine and biology and to introduce the results of fundamental and applied research into clinical practice and medical education.

The priority result of scientific research of the North-Western State Medical University is the creation of innovations, introduced into practical activities, demanded by the market of medical services and providing a qualitative increase in efficiency. Over the past 5 years, North-Western State Medical University has become a leader in the number of patents for inventions and utility models among medical universities and has more than 120 innovative developments that are being implemented in clinical, diagnostic, preventive and organizational work of medical institutions.

Scientific developments at the North-Western State Medical University are carried out jointly with more than 50 leading universities and research institutes of St. Petersburg, Russia and foreign countries, with 60 medical institutions, 25 pharmaceutical companies.

The results of scientific research of employees of the University named after I.I. Mechnikov are published in their own journals published at the University: ” Emergency Medical Aid” (State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles – SCADT), “Russian family doctor”, “Vestnik NWGMU” (SCADT), “Problems of medical mycology” (SCADT), “Preventive and clinical medicine” (SCADT).
